you must be new to Giveawayoftheday because you would know that you can only install the program on your computer on the day of the giveaway.
If you reformat your hard drive nothing will be retained and you will have to re-install the program on the day of the giveaway to register it.
If you format your hard drive today then after you are up and running again you can then install todays program on your freshly formatted hard drive.
You would not be able to install the program tomorrow or the day after the giveaway.

You can install the giveaways during the Giveaway period only. Sometimes that's one day, sometimes it's several. The length is usually spelled out in the description and sometimes in the readme file. Some of these giveaways have a limited license so a license could have expired by the time you reformat your hard drive. Most people here just figure they'll have to wait and hope the giveaway comes around again.
